Exactly one year ago, on our nation’s Independence Day, we received great news, news that would forever change our lives. I still remember the day like it was yesterday. I was sleeping and all the sudden I popped up and looked at the clock, and for some weird reason I remember it being 12:15am. I sat in bed trying to go back to sleep, but I couldn't. I had this overwhelming feeling that something was going to happen. You know that pit you get in your tummy, and you have no idea why? Well that’s exactly what I felt. I woke up at 7:30am the next morning, Saturday, July 4^th and ran to Walgreen’s. I came home, pissed a stick and there it was, right in our face sat a stick that read ‘PREGNANT’. We sat on the couch staring at the pregnancy test, gazing at the TV (that by the way, it wasn’t even on) and sat in silence for what felt like an hour or two. Those few minutes felt like an eternity. We were overwhelmed with the strongest of emotions. We were happy, confused, worried, ecstatic and numb all at once. I wish I could think of a better word than numb, but seriously, that is how I felt...NUMB! We smiled, we cried, we laughed, we cried more and then from that moment on we realized that we were the luckiest parents ever; knowing that we were blessed enough to be given the chance to bring another child into the world. Little did we know that we were going to get the phenomenal child that we have today; a child whom we can’t image living without. What a memorable day it was.

We love you Lucy Rose! You're everything perfect and I love every minute that we get to spend together. I think I’m overly emotional these days, because just thinking about this memory makes me tear up. I can’t believe how fortunate we are and I’m privileged to be your mother. It’s not always easy, but I would not have it any other way. Happy fetus day Lucy Rose!

Cole loves going over to Katelyn's house for playdates. He enjoys playing outside, and since we don't have a backyard, it works out great letting the kiddos run around and have a grand ol' time. Wait I take it back, we do have a "yard" but it's no bigger that the bathtub pictured below!

When they got done swimming the other day, we tossed the duo in the tub for a scrub down. I can't wait to show this picture to them in about 18 years.

Sun ... Sand ... Salt Water ... Newborn

I’m aware of the fact that I need to get over the reality that she is no longer my sweet little ‘newborn’. That makes me wonder…who in the hell is the “Hi, I’m the Mr. Dude that decides when your newborn becomes a baby?” Screw him, in my eyes; she’s still new to us and also newly born. Hell, I can call her whatever I want … and newborn it is!

Uhhh-ohhhh I can already tell this may be an out of control post.

Back to the sun, sand, salt water, and newborn combo ... can anyone tell me what does not belong?

Hopefully the stupidest of all stupids (for example, Paris Hilton) just might notice that the newborn is so not invited to the sun, sand and salt water party. Well, I say she would know that, but I’m not holding any promises. I really do worry about Paris sometimes!

Wow, what was I talking about again before I went off on Paris? Oh yeah …

A while back, like in July of 2009 Pook started panning trips for us to go on this summer.

I have no idea how Mr. Super Planner married the most spontaneous girl in America. It amazes me each and every day how we make it work, but somehow or another we do, and we do a damn good job at it if I had to say so myself. (Toot-toot, that’s me, tooting my horn).

Anyways, Pook brought the trips up again over dinner one day when I was about 8 months pregnant and the last thing I imagined myself doing is hitting the beach with a three-month old, 21 month old and a super over achiever husband. Once again, I decided to be a pleasant wife and went along with the plans just to make him happy, but I knew that his brain would come back down to planet earth and realize that he is flippin' nutso for wanting to bring both babies on a "relaxing" trip to the beach. To my surprise, he stuck with the plan.

Once again I put on my big girl, now known as my granny panties, and pretended to be pumped up about the trip. To my surprise, this experience was a huge success and a lesson learned on my part! Sometimes you need to put yourself out there and roll with the punches; venture out into the unknown and hope for the best. Maybe my pre-trip pessimistic mentality had something to do with the preceding trip to the hooooowwling Great Wolf Lodge.

Really though, I had extremely low expectations for this trip, and I really think it helped. For a couple of weeks before the trip I dreaded lugging around my sunburned, cranky, salty nuts boy and salty butt-crack girl around all weekend. Yes, the walk to the beach was brutal, but it was so worth it.

A huge thank you goes out to my sister-in-law, Heather and her boyfriend, Gary. They were such troopers. We owe them big time. When Pook mentioned that we should invite the two, I was all..."are you kidding me? If you were single (err well, not single, but just not married) and young and fun would you really want to be bossed around by a super stressed out family that has no clue what they are doing at the beach? Anyways, Pook decided that they may enjoy the trip and invited them anyways. Good dear goodness gracious, that was the best idea ever and I'm so glad that he did. I could not have survived without my sweet Heather. It was so nice having another girlfriend there to relate to and have somewhat of a normal beach party experience, even with the kids in tow. I doubt Gary even knows this blog exist, but if for some reason you run across it...please know that I greatly appreciate your help. I have faith that Pook ‘could’ have carried nine beach bags, a stereo, a baby, a cooler and a big ass tent down to the beach by himself...but if it wasn’t for Gary I would have had to hear him cry about it for the rest of the trip. So Gary, if you're out there, somewhere...thank you! We had so much fun beachin' it with you and Heather...maybe in a few years we can go again sans offspring and party it up college style!

So yeah, it was a great trip and I'm extremely impressed with Pook's planning. Way to go babe! You owed me after the Great Wolf Lodge experience ... HOOOOOOWWWLL! Sorry I tried to put down the beach plans before we left, because dude, you so proved me wrong … again!

Did I mention that this was our 4th weekend in a row to be out-of-town this summer and it only gets crazier and busier from here until September? I must say, I'm getting damn good at packing efficiently. Before I was all “what? baby sunscreen? swim diapers? hats? towels? baby oil (just to make sure that we all get skin cancer*)? baby water shoes? floaties? But dude, you should see me now, I have the packing process down to an art.

* Kidding about lathering kids up in baby oil. The only place I use baby oil is on my stainless steel appliances (thanks to Meghan Gregory's awesome recommendation)...you should so try it, because it’s the bomb diggity!

Yes, pictures coming soon but first...I thought I'd invite any of my friends on some of our planned trips. We're going to Port Aransas two more times, the Guadalupe ... and ummm, that's all I can remember for now. I'll have to get with my travel agent (Pook) so he can remind me what else is in store for the rest of the summer. The more the merrier, so come on friends, jump on board!

Alright, enough with the blabbing. I guess I’m just super giddy right now because last night I FINALLY found an area in which I feel comfortable moving to (thanks Ash)...therefore, we can put our house on the market sooner than later and get the hell out of this three-story back-breaker of a house. Don’t get me wrong; I love, love, love our crib but it's just totally unrealistic environment to raise two children in. Oh yeah, and plus last night we got to cruise around with the windows and sunroof down, jamming out sans kids. Just us two, looking at houses and enjoying are alone time. It’s the little things these days that make me extremely happy and last night happened to be one of them!

I know this post is ridiculously rambley and all over the place, but wouldn’t you say the out-of-control-ramble-posts are way overdue? It’s been forever since I had time to just sit down and started typing about anything and nothing (just like I used to do in the good old days). It feels damn good, and it feels even better when I hit that ‘publish’ button so everyone can waist their time reading my pointless post when they should really be writing up that overdue report at work.

We had a great time at the lake on Memorial Weekend. Too many beers and bottles were consumed, but over all it was extremely relaxing and it seemed like everyone had a great time. Cole and Caden are really starting to enjoy one another. It's so fun watching them interact.

The hotel attendants howled, "Hoooowwwww are you doing?" as they opened the doors for myself and Lucy Rose. From that point on, I knew I was in trouble...

A couple of weekends ago, Pook planned a trip to an indoor water park for our family. The name of said place is Great Wolf Lodge, hence the hoooooooooooooooooowww. Get it? Hooowling, as in a wolf.

After five hours of riding in the car with two screaming babies in Dallas rush hour traffic, I was ready for some serious relaxing by the pool. We pulled up to this water park/hotel and I saw the exact opposite. I’m not kidding you; there were slumber parties, kiddie day camps and cheerleader competitions going on all over the place. There were kids running here and there, bumping into me as I was trying to check in. I almost lost it when a little boy ran under my feet, tripping me as I was holding Lucy Rose. I looked down to chew his five-year old head off and he glanced up at me with a brown smudged face and gave me a little hoooowl. I spray tanned before we left town. I’m guessing the little boy’s parents were wondering how a ginormous birth mark appeared on their child’s face. I was super annoyed with the entire situation, but I couldn’t help but crack up at the same time. Here I was checking in with my two month old baby, getting ready to tear a five-year old in half for running into me soaking wet. So yeah, I was pretty much the Kool-Aid buzz kill for all the little ones running around the place going ape shit!

Normally I’m not a party pooper, but you have to understand that this is the kind of place where you need to mentally prepare yourself pre-arrival. I had no clue that I was going to stay at a “lodge” geared towards the 10-year-old crowd. Seriously though, the body washes & shampoo the lodge provided were even bubble gum flavored. See told you I was not over exaggerating!

It ended up not being the worst trip ever, but it was pretty freaking hilarious and defiantly a memorable event.

Saturday we busted out of the joint and went to spend the night with my brother-in-law, Christopher...Thank the lord!

This boy loves him some bananas. Seriously though, he would eat a banana (or nine) for every meal if I’d let him. When I take him to the grocery store I can't step foot near the produce department because the instant he spots the bananas, he automatically switches to crazy mode. Uhhhhhh, uhhhhh, uhhhhhhh as he points at the bananas. The uhhhh, uhhhhh, uhhhhing drives me nuts but I choose to pretend like I don't hear him. Ignoring him pisses him off even more and then it turns into a full, blown out meltdown in the middle of the freaking produce department. Dude all I wanted to get was one zucchini, why the massive fit? So yeah, I'm pretty sure he loves bananas more than he loves me.

A few days ago Cole starting kissing everything! I sit him in the high chair and he turns around and kisses it before he eats, he smothers his sister in kisses and to be honest, sometimes I hold my foot out just so he'll come over and kiss my toes. This kid cracks me up. His new nap mat came in the mail today and I asked him if he loved it, and he ran over to it and gave it the biggest kiss ever. When I say the biggest kiss ever, what I mean is that he was practically making out with the nap mat, I'm so not kidding. Since he is having a hard time communicating how he feels to us, I think he associates liking something with kissing it; hot damn baby boy not only liked his nap mat, he looooooved it!

She's a heathly baby girl who is everything perfect! I can't believe how quickly I have fallen for this sweet little child, it was definitely love at first sight. Jonathan and I are so blessed and could not be happier with our new addition to the family. The overwhelming amount of love and support given from friends and family is the best feeling in the world. Thank you all, we could not have done this without you. I have so many calls to return, and I promise I will eventually return them, but for now we are enjoying every single second with this amazing child of ours. Goodness gracious, God is great!

38 Weeks Mañana, But Who's Counting Anyways?

There are many thoughts going on inside my head these past few months that I would like to remember. I have yet to write anything down so I thought I’d spit out a quick post so I’ll never forget this stage in my life.

First of all, for those that care, I’ll give you a cervix update. As of last Monday, I’m still effaced, umm duh, I don’t think you can reverse the effacement process. Anyways, so yeah about 80% effaced and 1.5 cm dilated. Baby girl is also very low, if I were to guess I’d say +1 position, but that’s me just going off what Dr. Cook describes as really low. I have another appointment this afternoon so I’m excited to see if anything have changed.

Ok, now onto a few things that I would write in my journal, if I had a journal, but since I don’t have a journal all you internet people get to read or choose not to read all that has been going on with me these days.

- During last weeks appointment we set up an induction date. I’m supposed to go into the hospital tomorrow (yes, TOMORROW, yikes!) night. At that time they will put cervical (sp?) on my cervix and get the pitocin started Wednesday morning. The only problem is, I’m really not feeling good about any of this. My gut feeling is to cancel the induction all together and let her come on her own. My doctor really made it seem like Birtha would have made her début on her own by now, but no such luck. Part of me wants to cancel the induction because I want her to cook until she feels ready to come on out and meet Mama; however, part of me wants to hold off because I’m so not ready! Everyone tells me, “Oh my gosh Lane, I don’t think you could be more prepared”. Yes, my bags have been packed for weeks, I’ve cleaned the house from head to toe, I’ve ordered every damn bow under the sun, I’ve washed all of her clothes (maybe twice). I’ve actually done some wacky things to prepare for baby girl, but I’ll spare you the details before you all think I’m nutso. I swear, I’ve never acted this way in my life. I feel like I have OCD. Goodness gracious, I really do have sympathy for those that have been diagnosed with this illness because, OH.MY.GOSH.I’M.DRIVING.MYSELF.CRAZY! Anyways, I just went off subject big time there …surprise! Let’s get back to the induction. Like I said, part of me wants to wait until she is ready to come on her own, but the other part of me is really not ready for her to be here. It’s not that I’m not thrilled about meeting her, because I am. To be quite honest, I’m afraid that I will totally suck at being the mother of two babies under the age of two. I mean seriously, I can barely take care of one baby my myself, yet alone two. I know there is no holding back now, but I feel like if I can prolong this process then I have a little more time to prepare myself mentally. If anyone has any advice for me, please do send it my way. Is it normal to feel this worried so late in the game?

- Cole has been spoiled to death this past week. I keep thinking, “Oh I’m sure she’ll come tomorrow, so I better make Cole’s last day as an only child super special today.” And then, we wake up the next morning and have another extra special day, because it just may be the last. This has been going on for 7 days now, and I’m started to wonder if it is going to confuse him even more once Birtha arrives. I’ve even let him sleep in the bed with us most nights. He digs it, big time. I don’t get much sleep when his foot is launched in my face all night, but I still love it. I love snuggling my baby cakes as he falls asleep. Such a precious baby, he is.

- I think everyone and their mother is tired of hearing about my cooter. I talk about it so much now that it doesn’t even cross my mind that the grocery checker-outter lady could care less how bad my cooter hurts. Hey if you ask how I’m doing, your going to get a thorough and in depth explanation, even if it is about something totally uncalled for. Other than my hormonal headaches, my cooter pain has been the worst pregnancy symptom thus far. I get up from sitting and I feel like I’m going to fall to the ground. I wake up in the mornings and it feels as if someone was beating me with a baseball bat in the middle of the night. I’m not exaggerating it really is that bad. I have always had double jointed hips (wooooo TMI, I know) but I think this has something do with it. I think my hips naturally slip out of place allowing baby to rest her noggin far down there.

- One other weird thing that I never had with Cole is these nerves on the inside of my legs. Wow, maybe I should have bought a journal and kept all this information in it, because I just realized that this post is beginning to get out of control. If you want go on ahead to your next blog feed, I think its best for both of us. Ok, so you know when you do that exercise at the gym when you spread your legs around the machine and push in with your knees. You know, the one that you always have to pull down your shorts for, because your worried that the dirty meat head may see your panties.? Anyways, it’s that muscle that is killing me. All the sudden baby girl will move and hit a nerve and it sends a shooting pain to that muscle, making me stop in my tracks. Sometimes it’s so sudden and harsh that I have to take a seat on the ground wherever I am at. Yes, it was kind of awkward when this happened to me in the middle of Nordstrom’s yesterday.

- Birtha is a mover and shaker. She is always going nuts as if she is having some wild dance party inside of my tummy. I would say that she moves 75% more than Cole ever did. I love it most of the time; but sometimes it gets a little out of control, especially when she is preparing for soccer practice on Thursday afternoons. I wonder if this correlates with how active she will be outside of the womb; because hot damn, if she is 75% more active than Cole, then Lord please help me now!

- Baby girl has it going on in the fashion world already. I have had so much fun shopping for her. Ok, so I’ve gone a little out of control, but oh my gosh, it’s just so much fun to shop for girls. Not to mention shopping for Cole and Birth’s correlating outfits. Oh my holy Easter, you just watch out because I’m determined to find the most fabulous matching Easter outfits.

- I don’t want to forget some of the names we thought about naming Birtha, so I’ll throw a few out there. There were so many that I really can’t even remember them all, but I’ll try my best.

- This is totally off topic, but speaking of names. Let me teach my readers a lesson real fast. It will totally benefit you if you keep your baby‘s name to yourself until he/she is born.. Holy batman balls, I never realized how many opinions are out here. Ok, so maybe I asked for there opinions, but still. Let’s take for example, the name Tate! My whole entire life, yep that would be 26 years of hoping and dreaming of naming my baby boy was shot to hell. Don’t get me wrong, I love Cole’s name so much, it was always my most favorite, 2nd in line to the name Tate. Shut your mouth if you don’t like it, because I don’t want to hear it. Well, when I was pregnant with Cole I went to tell my Mom and Sister that we decided on the name. When I told them the name was Tate, I think my Mom just about fell on the floor laughing and Leah, well she’s a jerk and said, “ok, I’ll just call him Taint for the rest of his life.” Rude! I thought about standing my ground and sticking with the name, but all I kept thinking about was a damn TAINT every time I thought of my unborn son. So nope, I’m not bitter or anything. You would have thought that after this episode in the 1st pregnancy that I would have held off on telling the name again, but for some reason I opened my big mouth again. Let’s just say that it’s an awesome idea to keep the name between you and your husband until the little one arrives.

Alright, I was planning on this post being a short and sweet list of what is going on in my life these days, but obviously I got a little side tracked and wrote about the most random things ever. Now you all get to see how my brain works. A little all over the place, wouldn’t you say?

I could go on with the randomness, but there are windows to be washed, porches to be swept and nails to be painted. Peace out my friends, maybe next time we meet again I’ll be a part of a family of 4. FOUR! FOUR PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY? HOLY COW, remind me when all this change happened?

I need a break from blogging. It's not that I'm out of control busy; to be quite honest I'm over it and not in the mood lately. I remember going through this exact same feeling right before I had Cole, and I have no idea what triggers it, but it is just something that needs to happen. Don't you fret my pet, I'll be back one of these days. In the mean time I'll be getting ready for Birtha, spoiling Cole and resting my cooter bones. Goodness gracious, I never remember having pains that were this sharp and excruciating with Cole. Let me tell you what ... they blow and I'm over them too. Alright, just by my rambling it's clearly obvious that my bitter, exhausted, helpless self needs a break before I bore everyone to death. See you on the flip side.

Don't you worry. I'll hold down the fort just fine, but I will admit that I'll be taking the lazy way out from time to time. Here is one of my "multi-tasking" lazy moments from last night.

17 Month Letter To Cole

Dear Cole,

Last week, on Groucho’s birthday, you turned 17 months old. I can’t even remember the last time I wrote to you updating you on your milestones, and I’m sorry for that. We have all been busy preparing for your sister, Birtha. You know, real important things like making hair bows, shopping on Etsy and getting anything and everything monogrammed. Real busy, baby boy, I promise. Ok, really though I have no excuse as to why I have not written to you in so long, but I did so good your first year, so maybe that can make up for my slacking.

Speaking of Birtha … Don’t worry, we are not going to name your sister Birtha, we just call her that while she is in the womb. We had such a hard time coming up with her name and at times I sat and wished you could talk, because your opinion would mean the world to me. That’s if you wanted to name her something normal, nothing like Sponge Bob Square Pants. I know this sounds crazy, but I think you really understand that your Mama is having a baby. We tell you 563 times a day, “Show us your baby sister”. You walk, ok sometimes crawl straight over to me, rip up my shirt and stick your finger in my stretched out, pale, freaky looking belly button. Others would disagree, saying that you have no idea what’s going on, because sometimes we tell you to show us the baby and you go up to your Dad or Tootsie and raise their shirt and pry your dirty little finger nails into the bottom of their belly buttons. I beg to differ, though. When we are alone, you sometimes sit and pat on Birtha for no reason at all. The other day we were chilling on our bed playing around and being rambunctious when all the sudden you stopped what you were doing, lifted up my shirt and rested your tiny head on my belly. It’s like you were trying to listen to her. The weirdest part is that you stayed like that for about 10 minutes. I don’t think you have ever sat that still your entire life, it was surreal. I just sat there in silence, watching you and hoping that the moment would never end. You’re incredibly awesome, baby!

Walking! Yes, you’re finally walking. You were the last baby in your Mother’s Day Out class to start walking. I would pick you up from school and I would be waiting in line behind all the other mothers who actually showed up early to pick up their children. I would see their offspring walk, sometimes even run into their mother’s arm. Nope, not you. The second you would see me, you would scootch on over with the biggest grin on your face. It wasn’t so much a crawl, you looked more like Hunchback of Notre Dame, with your one leg out in front you pulling the rest of your body along. I guess you found out that this was a faster way to get around, but people thought it was hilarious. Me? Well I didn’t think it was so amusing, as I would think of a paraplegic every time I saw you doing it. Have you ever seen the way a person whom has lost there legs maneuvers themselves? This was exactly how you looked, only a miniature version. In fact it made me grateful to have such a healthy boy.

Anyways, ok enough about the crawling and on to your walking. We are so proud of you baby boy. I know why you decided to wait so long, you wanted to be the careful one on the block to avoid unnecessary trips to the ER, right? You have the cutest walk in America. For some reason you hold your arms down and back behind your body, as if they catch your eye, they will break your concentration. This causes you to arch your chest out, making you look super macho. Love it. Just for the record, since I still have not written one darn word in your baby book, lets just say your first official day of walking was in the middle of January 2010.

I’m not sure what clicked in your head, but ever since you started walking, you have this new sense of confidence and you don’t get near as frustrated as you used to. A few months ago you went through a phase where nothing seemed to make you happy. You were not content when you woke up, while you were eating or while you were playing. All you would do is sit and bellyache. This really worried me; I really started to worry if something was wrong with you. I remember calling Tootsie in tears exclaiming that, “something is wrong with my baby”. I feared that you had some crazy brain tumor, because you would always grab your head and cry. I think I was being a little paranoid, as I have been reading two blogs these days whom both are mothers of babies with cancer. I think this really freaked me out and made me a little over-cautious. You still grab your head from time to time, but I think it is something you do when you are tired. Plus your pediatrician is not worried, so I shouldn't be either.

Back to these two blogs that I have been reading. I don’t know why I do it, but I can’t stop checking in on these two sweet babies. It makes me sick to my stomach and really upset anytime they have bad news, and on these days I tell myself to not go back to the website. Before I know it, the next day rolls around and I am constantly checking twitter to make sure everything is ok with them. I don’t come anywhere close to being able to relate to the parents, besides the fact that I have a youngster that is the same age as their child. The only difference is that I am blessed with a healthy child who does not have to wake up each morning wondering if the cancer is taking over his little body. I’m sad to say that after reading these families stories I really don’t know if I would have it in me to handle everything that they have to go through. Both of the mothers are incredibly strong and will do anything and everything to fight the gruesome disease. It really makes me realize how lucky I am to have a healthy, happy baby like you. Sometimes after reading the blogs I will go downstairs and just sit and watch you sleep and thank God for bringing you into my life. I pray daily for these two children and at the same time I pray that my children will remain in good health. ***

Cole, I know you love your cousin Caden, but you just choose to not show it on the outside. Ok let's be honest … hot damn baby boy, you are straight up mean to him. I know you are just a baby and probably have no idea what you are doing, but still, sometimes I wonder about you. You are interested in Caden for ummm, yeah about 30 seconds and then you are back to your own little world. We have to watch you because you like to throw things at Caden’s head. Another thing that you do is snatch toys out of Caden’s hands constantly. You will then play with the stolen toy for 10 seconds, and then throw it aside. I can’t figure out of you are jealous, or just need a lesson in sharing. Readers help me out, is 17 months too young to start teaching how to share? I know one day Caden is going to step it up and get crunk on you and until that day comes, I guess you will continue to be a bully. You are so lucky to have a cousin that is so close in age to you, and you should be nice to him, you hear?

You continue to crack me up daily. You eat a waffle almost every morning and before I serve it to you I blow on it to make sure it won’t burn your mouth. I guess you caught on because now when I hand it to you, you sit there and blow on it yourself. So damn cute. Also, I guess you saw me blowing out a candle one day and now when we walk by the candle you give one puff as if you’re blowing out the unlit candle.

No! Yes! No! Yes, you have started to shake your head no. I was hoping you would not catch on to the word, but no such luck. I just look at you and for the fun of it shake my head yes and you automatically start shaking your head no. Trouble! It’s also weird, sometimes I put food on your plate that you have never seen before, and just by looking at it you already know that you are not going to like it, and start shaking your head. I think you like to believe that you can foresee the future, because I can be all the way across the kitchen chopping up some carrots or something for you and before I even start to walk to your tray with the food, you are already shaking your head no. Is this normal?

The other day we were riding in the car and I was talking to a friend on speaker phone. She said something funny and I started laughing. I looked back at you in your car seat and you were making fun of me. Yes, you’re only 17 months old and you are already making fun of my laugh. Now, anytime you hear Mama laughing you bust out this crazy, fake laugh imitating me. You crazy!

Alright baby boy, there is so much more going on in your life right now that I would love to write about but Mama is tired, as you kept her up until 4am, for the second night in a row. You have the green snots from hell! I’ve felt so sorry for you that I’ve been letting you sleep in our bed so I can watch over you, and I wake up to hear you moaning in your sleep. You are absolutely miserable, and I hope you get better soon. Please do me a favor, and don’t get Mama sick again. I have gotten way too many illnesses from you this year and for just once I ask for you to keep this one to yourself.

I love you Cole-Man! You are so much fun to be around and I thank God each and every day that he has brought you to us. What a special blessing you are. Enjoy your last month of being the only child. Mama and Dad are going to try and make it extra special for you. Maybe we will start off by taking you to Marble Slab for some ice cream today. Damn, that sounds good!

In 2010 I plan to ...

1. cook more.

2. relax.

3. attend church more.

4. enjoy the outside air.

5. capture less memories on film; instead I plan to simply enjoy the milestones unfolding and let the memories soak in. (believe it or not, this is a goal of mine)

6. give Swazie the love she deserves ... I can start by taking her back from my parents and welcoming her into our home with open arms.

7. get down to my goal weight, and love myself and my body along the way.

8. continue to love my husband & truly take advantage of all the new memories that we will make together.

9. learn to say "no" to things I'd rather not do.

10. love more.

11. dance more.

12. worry less about what others think.

13. pray often.

14. live for the moment and worry less about the future.

15. thank God more.

16. drink more water.

17. rest when there is time.

18. booze more, must make up for my lost 18 months of soberness.

19. splurge on chocolate without feeling guilty.

Family Man

We have both given up a lot to provide for our children, but Pook wins the family man award of the year. He gave up his truck in order for us to get a new car for our family. He loved his truck, as it was his first big purchase out of college.

I was having a really hard time dealing with the fact that I was going to have to trade in my brand new car that I just got last year in order to upgrade to an SUV. I tried on many occasions to figure out a way to fit two car seats in the back of my IS250, but it was just not happening. I love that car so much, and Pook knows this. He is such a considerate and thoughtful man; love you babe. My car is smaller than his truck and gets better gas mileage, so he doesn't mind driving it to work, well at least I don't think. I know he thinks it's a chic ride, but I think he looks damn good in it. Thanks for all that you do for our family, babe.

Caden Up Close

I made a collage like this for Cole a while back and Leah always said she wanted one of Caden. Well around here, you ask and I provide. Aren't his "skinny" little thighs just the best? Caden is such a good baby and I just love being around him. Last night we went to Lupe Tortilla's for my Dad's birthday. Cole started going ape shit in his high chair about 30 seconds into the meal. Not uh, not Cader-Bug, he just sat there quietly grubbing his quesadilla, hence the thighs!

It's About That Time

I went to the doctor last Friday and he said that he expects Birtha to make her début in about a month. Since that was a week ago, this now means three short weeks. Eeeeek! I'm so not ready. I thought I would start packing my bags for the hospital today, but I can't remember what to bring. You would think that since I was doing this just a little over a year ago I would be a pro, but I have a total fart in my brain. Any of you Mom's out there want to fill me in on some of the necessities that I need to bring? Like you know, things that are out of the ordinary. Of course I know I need a robe, clothes, toothbrush, etc. but what else made you comfortable during your stay at the hospital after you had your baby?

I offered to take senior portraits of our house keeper's daughter, Karen, and I'm so glad that I did. I had a great time with the three of them. Most of all, I enjoyed getting to know our house keeper, Patricia. She has worked for our family since I was in middle school and now she comes to both my house as well as my sister's house. I'm embarrassed to say that I never really knew her until I took her daughters pictures. Of course I always talk to her when she comes over, but she is a very shy woman and it took some prying for me to dig deep enough for her to let loose and be herself. Patricia is a fabulous woman, as are her two daughters. I'm so glad that I was able to capture a few moments of such an exciting time in her daughter's life. Congratulations Karen, you're an awesome girl and I know your future is a bright one!

Some of you are going to think this is a really harsh and ugly thing to say, but I'm going to go ahead and be honest with you guys.

Random Fact #20 : Before this pregnancy began, I never wanted to have a girl.

Remember the video post from a while back revealing the gender of baby #2? I know this sounds selfish, but what you didn’t get to see was me going to the back room and balling my eyes out after I opened the box. There I said it. Yes, I am grateful given the chance to have another child, blah, blah, blah. Really though, I honestly feel for the people out there who are itching at the chance to just get pregnant, whom hope and pray for a healthy baby, regardless of the gender.

If I had the choice I would want this one to be another boy. It's not so much that I have anything against little girls or dislike them, but you guys know what I'm talking about, right? We all did it as youngsters, dreamed and planned out our lives ahead of us. Well, I always assumed and planned that I would have four boys and that would be the end of the story. Since we were planning on adopting the next three I thought that my dream had a chance of becoming a reality. Seriously though, little boys are just SO MUCH FUN, and sometimes I find myself getting a bit envious when I hear that one of my friends is expecting a little boy. Friends remind me that I am a girly-girl myself and everyone comments how they can't see me without having a girl to dress up and take shopping. The thing is I was going to be just fine dressing up, borrowing and spoiling all of my friends and sibling’s baby girls.

Yeah, I'm sure some of you are thinking I'm the most shallow, annoying human being, that will rot in hell but I just wanted to go ahead and throw this out there just so I don't hear one more person say, "Oh, how perfect your family is, a boy and a girl".

I know, I'm overdue on posting pictures from my latest photo shoots, but I couldn't help myself from posting pictures of this doll. I was sorting through the pictures that I took yesterday of my dear friend, Ashley, and realized the abundant amount of images that I love. I can’t hold back any longer, I must share. Also, I know her sister is one of my readers and I thought she might appreciate seeing her sister's belly shots. You're welcome Amber! If I have taken your pictures recently (more like in the past two months) and have yet to post your pictures on my blog, it's not because I don't love you, I swear. It's because I'm straight up lazy and to be quite honest, it's easy for me to let my bestest of friends cut in line sometimes.

Did I mention how much I love taking pictures of friends? I can let loose and be my bossy self and not feel guilty or rude, because they know that is just me, being me. Thanks for making the day so fun Ash. It's refreshing to get out without Cole and explore around Houston in great company! I hope you like the pictures as much as I do. I'm so happy for you and RJ.Can't wait to meet baby Campbell in two short weeks.

Oh we were just hanging out in a small village in Ireland when we took this, you know, the norm. Really though, I'm digging the ivy.

It must have been our lucky day to find this purple door that matched her shirt perfectly. I asked Ash to hop inside the door to give the peeping out effect. The second she pushed on the door she squealed like a piglet in heat; there was a dead hawk right behind the door. Oh the sacrifices we must take to get a decent shot. Now sit there, smile, look pretty and forget about the stinky, 90 year old, mildewing bird that's less than a foot away from your back.

You can't tell by the picture, but those are pre-pregnancy SKINNY jeans she has on. Yes, she sucks. Yes, I am jealous. And yes, she looked awesome in them!

What, all you guys have better things to do on a Wednesday afternoon than chill around town exposing your belly in freezing weather?

I can't decide if it's legal for a pregnant person to look this adorable two weeks before delivery.

I didn't make her pose like this, I promise. She thought it would be a comfy place to rest.
